It offers classes in four martial arts forms: (1) Aikijutsu, an unarmed system of self-defense derived from swordsmanship;  (2) Tenshin-Ryū, swordsmanship using the long sword (Katana) and other samurai weapons; (3) Nippon Karate-dō Genwakai for adults, in which students learn to attack with total commitment, concentrating physical and spiritual energy into a single technique of overwhelming power; and (4) Nippon Karate-dō Genwakai, which helps children ages 8 years and older learn the traditional qualities of self-respect, self-discipline, self-motivation, respect for others, respect for authority, initiative and achievement.  When visiting Ohio Budokan, notice the “GRAND” lettering in the floor tiles by the entrance, a remnant from the building’s former life as a theater.  Click here [link to Arts & Culture] for more on the center’s Japanese cultural offerings.
