drink-oregon-website.jpgThe Oregon Arts District has long been known for its wide selection of saloons, where you can find any number of spirits to soothe your soul or libations to help you let loose. The taverns serve up an ample drink selection, along with such edibles as pizzas, pasta and pub fare. Whether you’re out for a simple cocktail or a drunken stumble, you’ll find plenty of action in your path: move to the groove of live music and DJs, throw back a tasty Irish whiskey, show off your smarts during live trivia, even talk politics or theology over a couple of tall ones. Or you can just kick up your heels at a good ol’ watering hole.

The Dublin Pub

300 Wayne Ave.

937-224-7822

www.dubpub.com

Want to go green? The Dublin is modeled after traditional Irish pubs. Come down for the "Craic," where music, conversation, good food and drink, and hospitality and humor join hands and sing "Kumbaya." You’ll be singing, too, after a few rounds of the Dublin Pub’s specialty, "The Perfect Pint," drawn from a draft system specially designed to pour pints of Guinness. Or help yourself to shots of the Dub Pub’s wide selection of Irish whiskey. Lucky for you, every round can be washed down with some excellent eats. The Dublin Pub also carries a wide range of cigars and hosts Cigar Lovers Night the second Tuesday of every month, along with spirit or whiskey tastings every other month, which often are paired with menu items. At night, the Dub Pub’s stage is usually cranking with everything from Celtic rock to a Led Zeppelin tribute band. When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day, this is party central for the Miami Valley. Located on the corner of Fifth Street and Wayne Avenue, The Dublin Pub has a large patio and its own parking lot.

The classic combination of booze and karaoke can be found at George Newcom's Tavern. With plenty of drink specials, even your friend with that gravelly, smoked-too-many-cigarettes voice may be belting out a tune at this bar that is all about kickin' it with your crew – over drinks, of course. Don't miss the large patio at the back of the Tavern that in itself is an escape from the city.

Take in some history with your hooch at Dayton's oldest continually operating tavern, built in the 1800s. Today, the Trolley Stop is still true to its tradition as a neighborhood bar and is one of the city's most popular gathering spots. Its patio, bedecked with ferns, flowers and a fountain, is an urban oasis and a downright enjoyable place to catch up with your compadres. The kitchen won't disappoint and the Trolley Stop's famous herbie dip with chips helps those pitchers go down smoothly. A pool table is tucked in an upstairs room, and the bar serves up daily specials and events, including dollar drafts, Wii bowling tournaments, Euchre and an array of music even more diverse than your iPod on shuffle.
